Destination Gambia re-joins Akwaaba African Travel Market

After some years of break from the annual trade and tourism show in Nigeria, Destination Gambia has re-joined the Akwaaba African Travel Market as part of the Gambia Tourism Board’s quest in projecting the country as an all-year-round tourism destination to prospective Nigerian investors, visitors and holidaymakers.

Gambia re-joined the international travel exhibition in April 2018 during Akwaaba Travel Market team organized FAM-Trip to Destination Gambia, where the organizer re-admitted and announced the return of the destination to Africa’s largest international travel exhibition slated from 9th to 11th September in Lagos, Nigeria.

Akwaaba is the major international travel exhibition in West Africa specialised in the area of business travel and tourism with the primary target of hotels, conferences, airlines, and events. For almost fourteen years, different hotels, airlines and tour operators among others in Africa have been participating.

Activities marking the event will include The Gambia Day, which will run from Sunday with the Jollof rice contest where Gambian Chefs will participate, into Monday where the Gambia Day proper will hold.

Leading the rest of the tourism stakeholders to the event are the officials of The Gambia Tourism Board, as the team want Nigerians to know that they are welcomed at any time into The Gambia as the event is open for all.

The three day event will also feature different conferences - that will bring various speakers on tourism together to educate participants from various countries, B2B session – to show that it is not only Nigerians who bother participating countries from different countries the enormous potentials available in the Smiling Coast.

More so, four Gambian Tour Operators will receive Africa Top 100 Tour Operators award at the event.
